Rev. Dr. George R. Muenich

About Our Pastor:


Reverend Dr. George R. Muenich has been Zion's Pastor since 1990. An American of German ancestry, he was raised in southern California and studied physics at the California Institute of Technology. After graduating from Cal Tech in 1961, he attended the University of Tuebingen in Germany, where he studied physics and German. After service in the U. S. Air Force, he was hired as an electronics engineer at Wiesbaden Air Base. Feeling that he wasn't "getting anywhere", he followed God's prompting and enrolled in theology at the University of Erlangen in northern Bavaria, earning his doctorate in 1975.

Rev. Muenich received his certification from the Concordia Seminary in St. Louis and interned in Washington, D.C. He served as a Pastor at Grace, Gas City, IN; Wittenberg University, Springfield, OH; St. Mark and Trinity, Rockport, IN; and then at Redeemer, Jasper, IN, before accepting a call from Zion.

Rev. Muenich is married with two daughters, Renate and Margaret. His wife, Erika, a Queens native, is the church organist and was formerly a teacher at a high school in Manhattan.
